WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR VISIT

When you email our office for services, you will be asked for information to set up an account on TherapyPortal Access, our patient portal. You will be asked to complete all the intake paperwork, including insurance, so that our billing office can verify your insurance.

When you visit the office, we ask that you come in and find a seat in the lobby. You may use the sink in the kitchen area to wash your hands while you wait for your appointment. Dr. Ambrus will come to get you in the lobby when it is time for your appointment. To promote your privacy and the privacy of others, we ask that you do not walk into the office suite as the doctor may be with another patient. She will come to get you in time for your visit.

When you come to New Roads Psychological and Wellness Services, your first visit will be a comprehensive assessment of your concerns and symptoms so that we can determine the best course of treatment. In your second visit, we will collaborate to determine your treatment goals or what you would like to gain from the therapy process.

About psychotherapy: I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.

Dr. Ambrus also offers psychological evaluations to help you to better understand your strengths and needs and provide diagnostic clarification. Your insurance may require an initial interview with the psychologist and pre-authorization before assessments can be conducted. Reports for psychological assessments are released after your insurance has been processed and all patient obligations are met. You will be provided an opportunity for a follow-up session with the psychologist to review your results. Please note that the insurance pre-authorization and assessment process may take approximately 90 days.
